Taxes

  • State government taxes too much and spends too much. I believe individuals and families know better than the government how to best spend their hard-earned income.
  • I voted for more than $700 million in income tax relief during my two terms in the House of Representatives.
  • I fought to increase our state’s long-term emergency fund so we have savings in case of an emergency.
  • Lowering our tax burden is critical to improving our business climate. Neighboring states like Texas and Tennessee have zero income tax. I support phasing out Arkansas’s income tax.
  • I worked to expand the sales tax exemption on used cars and trucks, helping low-income Arkansans obtain reliable transportation so they can drive to work and school.
  • I also co-sponsored successful legislation to increase the homestead property tax credit from $375 up to $425, saving homeowners approximately $35 million per year.
